New to Voloco? Start with the Starter Pack! These 5 essential effects are free and cover the most common vocal processing needs.
Hard Tune:
The classic, 'digital' pitch correction used by countless rappers and singers alike. This effect uses a hard, more electronic sound. Commonly used in modern rap vocals and pop music to give an obvious tuned and electronic sound to your vocals.
To use the Hard Tune effect:
1. Tap FX in Performance View
2. Select "Starter"
3. Tap "Hard Tune"
4. Make sure your Key is set correctly (Voloco auto-detects from your beat)
5. Start recording
Natural Tune:
Similar to Hard Tune, but has a less pronounced effect with a more natural, rounded tone. This effect sounds great with Pop and R&B vocals by using more subtle pitch correction on your vocals.
To use the Natural Tune effect:
1. Tap FX in Performance View
2. Select "Starter"
3. Tap "Natural Tune"
4. Make sure your Key is set correctly (Voloco auto-detects from your beat)
5. Start recording
Super Vocoder:
Instead of hard-tuning your vocal input, a vocoder takes the formant (character) of your voice and feeds it into a synthesizer for a more 'robotic' effect. Vocoders are creative and experimental vocal effects that are especially useful in electronic music.
To use the Super Vocoder effect:
1. Tap FX in Performance View
2. Select "Starter"
3. Tap "Super Vocoder"
4. Make sure your Key is set correctly (Voloco auto-detects from your beat)
5. Start recording
Big Chorus:
This effect duplicates your voice into multiple notes in your selected Key and Scale, creating a large chorus effect common in pop, R&B and electronica. Big Chorus adds depth to your vocals without needing to record multiple takes. This effect can be heard in Pop hooks and big, anthemic choruses.
To use the Big Chorus effect:
1. Tap FX in Performance View
2. Select "Starter"
3. Tap "Big Chorus"
4. Make sure your Key is set correctly (Voloco auto-detects from your beat)
5. Start recording
Clean:
This effect doesn't process pitch-correction or a vocoder, and simply uses audio filtering technology to remove background noise. When you just want to hear your natural voice at its best, the Clean preset is your best option! This effect works best when you’re in-tune and don’t need pitch correction on your vocals.
To use the Clean effect:
1. Tap FX in Performance View
2. Select "Starter"
3. Tap "Clean"
4. Start recording
