Want to export each vocal track in your Voloco project separately? The Voloco app lets you export individual vocal stems by muting the tracks you don't want to include. When you’re using the Voloco app, this is perfect for sending your vocals to a producer, using your tracks in other music software, or creating separate files for mixing.
What Are Stems?
Stems are individual vocal tracks exported separately from a multi-track Voloco project. For example:
- Main vocal track
- Harmony tracks
- Ad-lib tracks
- Vocal doubles or layered performances
Different takes you want to compare or use separately
How to Export Stems
The process is simple: export one track at a time by muting everything else in the Voloco app.
1. Open your project in the Voloco app
2. Mute all tracks except the one you want to export in Voloco
- Tap the mute button on each track you want to exclude
- Leave only one track unmuted
3. Tap the pink export arrow
- This opens the Review screen with only your unmuted track
4. Name your stem
- Tap the track name at the top
- Give it a descriptive name (example: "Stem 1" or "Lead Vocals" or "Verse 1")
5. Export the audio
- Tap the share icon in the top right corner
- Select "Download as Audio"
- Your stem will be saved to your device
6. Repeat for each track
- Navigate back to your Voloco project
- Unmute the next track you want to export (mute all others)
- Repeat steps 3-5
Export Tips
Name your stems clearly: Use a consistent naming formula so you know what each file contains. We recommend:
"Project Name - Track Type (Track Number)"
Examples:
- "Summer Nights - Main Vocal (Track 1)"
- "Summer Nights - Harmony (Track 2)"
- "Summer Nights - Ad Libs (Track 3)"
Export in WAV for best quality: If you're sending stems to a producer or using them in a DAW like GarageBand, Pro Tools, Ableton, or Logic Pro, choose WAV format for lossless audio quality. WAV export is available with Voloco Premium, along with the ability to add multiple vocal tracks for creating stems.
Keep track of your exports: Create a folder on your device specifically for stems from each Voloco project so nothing gets lost.
Check your mute settings: Before exporting each stem, double-check that only the track you want is unmuted.
Common Questions
Can I export all stems at once? Not currently. You need to export each track individually using the mute/unmute method described above.
Can I export stems with different effects? Yes! Each vocal track in the Voloco app can have different effects applied. Make sure your effects are set how you want them before exporting.
Will effects be included in the exported stem? Yes. Any effects, EQ, reverb, or processing you've applied to the track in the Voloco app will be included in the exported audio file.
