What's New in Voloco 9.20: Solo Tracks and Clip Fades

Two new tools in 9.20: Solo, so you can hear one track on its own, and Clip Fades, so every edit comes out smooth.
 

Solo Tracks

Checking one layer against the beat used to mean muting every other track by hand. With up to eight vocal layers, that got tedious fast.

Soloing fixes that: tap a track to hear it on its own, without muting everything else first.

Soloing is available to all users.

 

How to Solo a Track

Step 1: Select a Track
Tap the track name or icon beside any layer, or the Beat.

Step 2: Tap Solo
Solo is in the track menu. A blue S badge appears next to the track to confirm it's active.

Step 3: Add More Tracks
Tap Solo on additional tracks to add them to what you're hearing. Soloing isn't limited to one track at a time, so you can build up exactly the combination you want.

Step 4: Turn Off Solo
Tap Unsolo on any soloed track.

 

Clip Fades

Clips that start or stop abruptly can be a real problem, especially on ad-libs and layered takes where a hard cut is audible. Previously, the only fix was trimming precisely or re-recording.

Fading clips fixes that: instead of a hard cut, the clip ramps in or out over however many milliseconds you set.

Fading clips is available to all users.

 

How to Add a Fade

Step 1: Select a Clip
Tap a clip in Edit View to open the Segment menu.

Step 2: Tap Fade
This opens the fade controls for that clip.

Step 3: Set Fade Length
Use the In and Out sliders to set fade length in milliseconds. The two are independent, so you can fade in gradually and fade out almost instantly, or anything in between.

Step 4: Apply the Fade
Tap Done. Fades apply per clip, not per track, so different clips on the same layer can fade differently.
